I saw Mrs Overton in 2017. Let’s start at the beginning. She confused me with a patient she’d seen years earlier. She then got the coding mixed up for my procedure which caused a headache for my insurer, she then inisisted I wanted children when actually I don’t. She then told me that in order to have surgery I’d have to have a mirena - she then failed to inform me of the risks and side effects of it. I was also advised that the people who had side effects are lying. After the procedure I learnt that actually all the problems I had experienced post op were a direct result of the mirena - my current GP and NHS doctor are shocked I wasn’t given the chance to make informed choices. I also found her to be very rude in respect to my mental health stating that my pain is a result of my mental health and that I cope with surgery pain because of my self harm history. In the last 18 months I’ve had to have 2 further procedures as a result of her first - thankfully I didn’t go back to her. In fact my insurance agreed to allow me to see a third consultant after she ensured a second consultant locally wouldn’t treat me (this was privately) since then I’ve had to go on the nhs to avoid further issues. Also when I raised the question of zoladex in my follow up and the concerns I had around how it had affected a friend she snidely turned round and said that I was talking about myself in third person. It’s taken me over a year to feel confident enough to write this review. I am sure that if you don’t have mental health issues she’s a fantastic gynaecologist but she’s actually made my life harder as it’s taken nearly a year to recover from the side effects of the mirena as well as her awful attitude towards me
