I was admitted under Section to Dr Curtis's care in 2010 at The Maudsley following a suicide attempt by me folowing the death of my father. I had a previous diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia and depression but was diagnosed by Dr Curtis with schizo affective disorder . After many attempts to find the right drug combination, I was eventually given ECT against my will under Section 3 on Dr Curtis's recommendation and subsequently had 11 sessions of ECT. Finally the right drug combination was found of flupenthixol depot and lithium tablets as a mood stabiliser. Dr Curtis saved my life. She also made sure that I had the Team's assistance in organising from hospital my late father's funeral , not an easy task to do when one is extremely sick. Although Dr Curtis and I disagreed on many occasions concerning my care, ultimately she was right to insist on the treatment I received as it saved my life and ten years later I am still going strong on Flupenthixol and lithium and am out of hospital in the care of the community. Thank you Dr Curtis.
