I consulted Dr Elangasinghe in November 2022, for follow up of a mole, and to seek advice on Oral Lichen Planus (OLP) which I had developed since my previous consultation, and which made eating very painful. The advice from the NHS maxillo-facial clinic and my GP about OLP was quite limited, and there were many questions in my mind. During examination, using the Dermascope, he detected that a small area of skin discolouration was due to lichen planus. He explained his findings clearly and gave me practical advice I could use. He prescribed an ointment for the skin, a mouthwash for my oral Lichen planus, and a gel for pain relief before eating. By comparing a Dermascopic photograph of the mole with one he took six months ago, he was able to reassure me that the mole remained unchanged and needed only yearly follow up. I found Dr Vinod to be extremely knowledgeable. What impressed me most was that he gave me the time, listened patiently and addressed all my various concerns. At no point did I feel rushed. I found his explanations and advice comprehensive and easy to follow. He is very competent, caring, easy to relate to and an excellent communicator. I will continue to see him for follow up.
