From the moment we met with Dr Tanya she put us at ease, She has a friendly, warm and empathetic approach. She directed the questioning to my child giving him time to respond despite being busy, checking for his understanding. She displayed such skill in this area to get key information , details and examples recorded. She discussed options for medication and acknowledged he was capable of making decisions about this as she presented him with the facts. Armed with that knowledge he gave valid reasons for his choice which she accepted and put in her letters to other professionals. She did not dismiss alternative/holistic therapies , something which many other professionals have done in the past and asked the child what benefits he gained from his treatment sessions. She really does "unpick" the childs feelings and validate them. She sees the child as an individual and genuinely cares, wanting to improve their lives. She empowers them. My teenager came away saying, "she gets me" and "she was very nice", he really opened up to her. She is very organised and skilled at sign posting families on to get the relevant services involved to help them. The letters she produces are very accurate, depicting the views of the child in my case as the child is in his early teens and shared a lot of information with her. We, no doubt like many have dealt with numerous so called professionals who sit in judgement. I can honestly say it was refreshing to be treated with such integrity. I can not suggest anything to improve the service once you get referred and an appointment.
