Dr Susanne Alexander took me through the various things I could expect from my breast cancer treatment. She carefully explained everything that would happen and debriefed me after the sessions. Fortunately my body took the chemotherapy well and I had few distressing symptoms. I did develop distortions of my fingernails but these did grow out eventually. I do recall showing my hands to Dr Alexander. My operation took place in October 2018 followed by chemo and radiotherapy. At the end of this process Dr Alexander felt that this would be enough and wished me well for the future. Now 4 years later her instinct has proved right and I am healthy and not being called back for 5 years. Dr Alexander answered my worried husband’s queries fully and with care. I particularly appreciated that as I had developed generalised anxiety disorder and found social contact difficult. Also I needed new hearing aids and found listening to instructions difficult.
