Met this absolute legend of man whilst I was an inpatient at the QE. I was admitted for gradually worsening shortness of breath and came in because I fainted after doing some exercise. Had had previous chest xrays over the years, but no diagnosis. Dr Madathil walked in, and even before saying hello and the formalities, he took one look at me and said pulmonary fibrosis.
After having a CT scan this was eventually confirmed, but I'm still in awe with how he had figured out what was wrong with me with one look whilst it had stumped by GP and other doctors for years.
Suffice to say I will be very grateful for the rest of my (now very short) life.
