I saw Dr Murray at QEUH. Throughout my consultation she was exceptionally ignorant. When I tried to explain my symptoms and diagnosed related underlying medical conditions, she just kept repeating that I "look healthy" and that I was just thin. This is the first time I've experienced such aggressive ableist attitude by a "specialist". I have a number of "invisible" and chronic health conditions including connective tissue disorders, all noted in my file. She demeaned most of my symptoms and concerns by responding with "it could be worse". That's rich coming from someone who obviously does not suffer from severe or chronic health conditions and has no idea what it is liketo suffer daily. She advised me that although some of my inflammatory blood work was abnormal, this is not cause of concern because she sees this in healthy individuals. What is of concern is that I have a diagnosed autoimmune condition, which is why my blood work was abnormal, yet she dismissed it and obviously did not pay attention to me during the consultation or read my medical history. It's worrying how many individuals she's likely misdiagnosed. It's disturbing that specialists, especially this one will dismiss abnormal results, particularly since she convinced herself early on that I was healthy! There's not even any point putting in a complaint, they just make excuses and don't acknowledge their limitations. She was polite enough but also patronising and obviously very ignorant. For a healthcare practitioner this is not acceptable behaviour or attitude. My experience reminded me of individuals that tell people they can't park in disabled parking because they don't "look" disabled.
