My time with Dr Stumpfle was of course very limited as I was a Day Case. He appeared pressed for time, which I understand could have been for reasons beyond his control - it was clear that he had read my notes though, so I had no concerns about him as a doctor. However, he talked AT me, not TO me and there was little interaction with me, beyond reeling off the list of all the things that were going to happen and what could go wrong. - I am a retired medical professional, so I already understood everything being described, and the absolute requirement for the patient to be informed, but we all need to feel like a person not just a body requiring a surgical procedure. - Sadly his manner was only marginally better in the anaesthetic room - I felt like an arm with veins that needed to be accessed! This is not a complaint but rather more a request for him to address his bedside manner. Many of us have had to at some point in our careers! It matters when you are the one lying on the trolley - even if you are normally ‘on the other side of the fence’. I have no complaints about my anaesthetic or my recovery from it. Thank you
