My husband, myself and our son found Dr Nawaz to be more than we had expected. He demonstrated that he was fully knowledgeable regarding learning and social issues with children. He listened very carefully and was fully empathetic, both with us as parents and with our son. He was cautious not to jump to any conclusions and used his experience to explain what the options might be. He was the first person we had met, during the long process of obtaining a diagnosis for our son, that we felt we could trust, that was completely on our side and was balanced and intelligent enough to make us feel confident he knew what he was doing. Following diagnosis he explained the outcome in a very sensitive manner, answering plenty of questions and wording answers in an inclusive and positive manner. He understood our need not to disclose the diagnosis to our son at this point and spoke to him in a really warm, practical and positive manner to discuss what aspects our son found difficult or easy. Dr Nawaz was reassuring to us and provided us with information and offered a final follow up appointment. He more than exceeded our expectations, demonstrated excellent active listening skills, provided learned answers and was warm and positive. We were very reassured and happy in what could have been a very uncomfortable process.
