Dr Rajeev Desai

I underwent a flexible sigmoidoscopy this morning at County Hospital. This was performed by Dr Abdhulla Abbasi under the supervision of Dr Rajeev Desai. Both men were excellent listeners, the procedure was fully explained before starting. Dr Desai responded appropriately to my concerns. Throughout the procedure Dr Desai responded to any questions I posed. I was assured straight away that no cancer had been found. Four biopsies were taken and Dr Desai explained what they were looking for in order to complete a differential diagnosis. I was delighted to discover that I didn’t need to change my high fibre diet and that my condition should be successfully treated through medication. All staff treated me with respect and dignity. This was certainly extended to all theatre staff members, what an excellent example of good teamwork. I was privileged to observe the relationship between Dr Abbasi and Dr Desai; clearly one of mutuality with regards to respect, and learning and characterised by a sense of Bon Homie. For me Dr Desai not only represents an excellent consultant but also an excellent mentor for this trainees.

Dr. Rajeev Desai performed a colonoscopy on me recently and his manner was very relaxed. He explained the procedure to me and I felt at ease. The nurses also were excellent. They assisted greatly when I needed gas and air and assured me all through the procedure that I was doing well.

Dr.Desai was very welcoming and approachable. He explained all the necessary in detail and listened and answered all relevant questions. The whole experience was positive and I would like to thank him for that.

This doctor could do more to listen to patients and their problems, however, he does not.
