Dr Lepping gave me a diagnosis of bipolar disorder ten years ago despite the fact that I didn't meet the diagnostic criteria. He even said at the time that he didn't think I was manic. I was in a very bad place suffering with depression and had previously seen Dr Lepping following an episode of drug induced psychosis. He was quick to prescribe antipsychotic medication and also prescribed a benzodiazepine namely diazepam. I have spent ten years living with the effects of the medication and the effects of the diagnosis. I am extremely worried that this mistake will have an adverse effect on my future and that something similar could happen to others.
