At a routine appointment I happened to say that I wished I could lose weight. Having been classed as obese for a few years and now 66 I’ve tried dieting for most of my adult life, and even with medical supervision - counting calories, keeeping food diaries, my weight slowly crept up. My previous GP’s advice had been to go for a walk every half hour. Dr Foley listened, asked questions, and offered me a different way of doing things, if I was interested. I felt I had nothing to lose by trying what he suggested, and he gave me printed information and a website to look at for more details, together with the names of a few books around the subject. There was no pressure to do it at all, but I felt I wanted to at least give it a try. I’ve been following his suggestions for 3 months, with the results being that I have lost 7 kilos and gone down a dress size. I feel better, have more stamina, people tell me I’m looking slim, and yet I’m not hungry, nor obsessing about food as in almost every previous diet. Having “got my head round” the new way of eating it is all so easy to live this way, not fanatically but making good choices which I shall continue - if only I’d had this chance before! Dr Foley has been endlessly encouraging , helping me to set my own goals but without setting me any rules to abide by nor any pressure from himself. I shall be forever grateful for his help and encouragement.
