I saw Dr Lawrence on a Monday with pains in my ribs, she told me to take pain killers & rest, which I did. Wednesday I was feeling quite ill, very hot/cold couldn't keep anything down even a sip of water, very sleepy. Thursday morning my husband phoned the doctors & requested a home visit, Dr Lawrence phoned me said she would visit later. When she arrived she noticed I had a rash, myself nor my husband had or would of noticed this as I was in bed sleeping. She sent me straight to hospital via ambulance. At the QE doctors didn't know what it was, wondered if it could be Meningitis as I hadn't got a headache or any sensitivity to light they didn't thing it could be that. After taking blood, putting me on a drip with strong antibiotics plus fluids, I was admitted. My temperature went up to 38.8 I was told I was very sick, & lucky my GP had sent me straight to hospital. Saturday the doctor told me a bug had grown on one of my blood samples this bug was from Meningitis. Apparently this is rare I had a 50/50 chance of dying which was very scary. I was prescribed the right antibiotics & remained in hospital for another 5 days. I have made a full recovery, this is all down to Dr Lawrence, SHE SAVED MY LIFE, I cannot thank her enough. I have spoken to her & thanked her, she said she didn't know what it was but knew I was ill. I would once again like to thank her, along with all the Doctors & staff at the QE hospital.
