My wife and I attempted to contact Delapre Medical Centre on Monday 14th March, due to our two year old daughter having a chesty cough. After we both spent some time trying to get through by phone, we were informed that a doctor would contact us back with a view to seeing our daughter. My wife was contacted by Dr Barrowclough who she described as being very rude, abrupt and spoke to her in an unprofessional manner. He requested we bring our daughter in straight away to be seen, but my wife explained that we both work and that my daughter is also looked after across the other side of town, so it would take some time to collect her. My wife asked for an appointment after 4pm. She was told to come after 4.30pm where she would be seen as soon as the doctor had a free slot. My wife contacted me to explain Dr B had been very rude, enough so that she was left in tears at the manner in which he spoke to her. As a result, I decided I would take my daughter after 4.30pm. After arriving at the surgery, we only waited 15-20 minutes before Dr B called us into his room. I have to say as a healthcare professional myself, I was absolutely appalled at the manner in which he greeted us and spoke to me throughout the appointment. His manner was curt, arrogant and generally very rude. He was also dismissive and snappy when when I attempted to ask him some simple questions about the medication he was prescribing. I have never come across a healthcare professional who has acted in such a rude and obnoxious manner towards me, either in my personal or work life. I will be writing a formal complaint as a result where i will be requesting an apology from Dr Barrowclough.
