Dr Eyre was my anaesthetist for bunion surgery. I only me her briefly prior to the surgery but she explained very clearly what she was intending to do to reduce post operative pain. Dr Eyre performed an ultrasound-guided ankle block whilst I was under the anaesthetic for surgery. The ankle block anaesthetised all the nerves around my ankle so there was no pain at all when I awoke. I had no sensation at all in my foot for at least 24 hours, like having a dead feeling when you sleep awkwardly or sit on your feet. After 24 hours, there was some tingling in my foot and sensation returned slowly over the next 12 hours or so. Following that I was able to manage my pain with paracetamol and ibuprofen taken regularly for about a week, the paracetamol alone for a week or so more. I did not need to take codeine, which was prescribed. Dr Eyre was very easy to talk to and answered my questions about the ankle block very clearly. Brilliant anaesthetist, thank you
