I had an emergency ceaserean section on 1/8/18. I suffer from panic attacks and anxiety and after the spinal had been completed and i started to feel numb, I felt I was on the verge of having a panic attack. Dr Liz was sat at my head and I told her I felt I was having a panic attack. She chatted to me, stroked my head, gave me sips of water and when I advised I had been doing hypnobirthing to keep me calm during labour, she talked me through some relaxation/ meditation that completely calmed me down... so much so that I almost fell asleep! I honestly believe I wouldn’t have gotten through my section without her. She was so understanding and listened to my panic and talked me through it. She even came to see me the next day to see how I was. Thank you so much Liz, I will never forget what you did for me on that special day.

Response from Dr Liz Kingston

Thank you for sharing your experiences and taking the time to leave your kind feedback about your emergency caesarean section experience. I appreciate that having any operation can be challenging at the best of times, but adding being awake to this for caesarean delivery requires careful management to help patients have a positive experience. I was grateful for your honesty which allowed me to tailor my care more closely to your individual needs, and I have a personal interest in medical hypnosis, which I enjoy using in my care. I find that guided meditation and relaxation can be very helpful during delivery and was glad it was of use to you too. I hope this was a good, positive experience of anaesthesia that you can use to build confidence for any future care you receive, and I wish you well for your recovery.
