Kieran O'flynn has been my GP for nearly 2 decades. He is simply brilliant. As well as being very well qualified he has a good "bedside manner" to use an old phrase. He takes a very personal interest in me and simply delivers. Knowing he is busy, I always go with a written list of specific things to discuss and he goes through them. He takes a holistic approach to me and my wife whilst of course maintaining confidentiality. He liases with the hospitals who treat me and ensures there is good continuity of care. He is open to email communication which saves him and me much time. I try not to abuse this. A few years ago I was seriously ill and it was Kieran's intervention that saved me. Only a regular doctor can do this. The surgery/clinic works well too. It is a friendly uncrowded pleasant place to be and the receptionists are excellent. I am happy to talk to students there. Improvement? Well he knows this one thing. A patient with a long-term chronic condition needs access to the same GP all the time. This saves time, ensures the new consultation is just an iteration on the general situation and everyone is confident. But KOF is so popular and so busy that one often has to wait days if not weeks to see him. Generally this doesn't matter for routine monitoring but when something acute happens it doesn't work. I know the "work round" (telephone call back) or email but this general problem needs resolution. He knows this and the system simply can't deliver. Otherwise perfection and I am very grateful for this.
