We felt in the best of hands with Dr JC Wong. My wife saw him on two occasions within two weeks. Each time he went way beyond to really listen to her perspective on treatment options, questions, and thoughts. He put her at the centre of his medical approach and allowed her an active role in the decision-making process, validated her perspective, and evolved standard practice in the best possible way for her. He treated us like fellow human beings. In particular, the second time we met him he brought our third daughter into the world with an elective Caesarean. I saw myself his impeccable bedside manner – instantly placing himself at eye level with my wife, focusing on her dignity at all times, taking the time to really listening to her and responding to her as equal – even throwing in a well-judged sense of humour at times. All seemingly small things individually, but as part of many other small touches, culminate to make a big difference in an intimidating and busy surgical environment. We have personal and special memories of the day – not at any point did JC make it feel like a procedure, it felt like a birth. He has made a huge difference and really helped my wife process her elective Caesarean experience with a sense of positivity and control. Of course her scar is very small and neat, and she has recovered exceedingly well thanks to him and the team as well. Overall we still talk about our experience with him with such fondness, and appreciate having met and been under his care at Whipps Cross Hospital. All round, he’s a lovely chap, excellent doctor and seemingly well regarded by his peers as well – best of the best.
