I saw Dr Hammersley after suffering from chest discomfort that I thought was associated with a chronic reflux problem. I’m the first to tell doctors that I’m okay and downplay my symptoms, but she was extremely thorough and caring in her approach and listened patiently as I explained what I thought was wrong. She explained her worry that my pain might be related to my heart, which I didn’t consider at the time, and called an ambulance as well as taking me into a treatment room where an ECG showed an abnormality and I was taken to hospital. This was all at my insistence that I was fine. Since seeing Dr Hammersley she has helped in ways I did not appreciate a doctor could help - having helped to get me to the right place to discover I have an enlarged heart, and needed to see a cardiologist, but also referring me for an urgent endoscopy, because it turns out I did have some gastro problems as well and these were more serious than I’d realised. So both are now medicated and I’m awaiying further tests. I’ve seen many GPs in my lifetime, but Dr Hammersley would be the first where I feel a doctor genuinely demonstrates the ability to listen, remain objective and do what is absolutely right for you in such a caring and professional manner. I’m not sure what all GPs are taught, but I would consider Dr Hammersley to emulate what I think the perfect GP should be. I cannot commend or thank her enough, and I would recommend her to anyone.
