I had a condition called Barret's Oesophagus which, following a routine 2 year Endoscopy check-up was found to have turned cancerous. This led to surgery in April 2016 at RSC hospital in Guildford to remove the oesophagus and to replace the missing section by lifting and joining the stomach. Mr. Sultan explained the severity of the proposed operation clearly beforehand and the associated risks (mortality/morbidity), as well as the likely recovery process and timescale. His attitude was very helpful and honest ("it's like being hit by a bus"). The 12-hour operation was successful and followed by a few days in intensive care and a further 3 weeks in the ward. There was a complication due to an infection otherwise my stay on the ward may have been shorter. My recovery is proceeding as planned and generally in line with expectations. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Sultan, his team and the RSC hospital.
