I was told that Dr Austera would contact me with a reference to see a specialist within 48 hours of my appointment. As 48 hours had passed and I had not heard a word, I decided to contact the surgery. Of course, Dr Austera was not in and will not be contactable until Monday - that's 144 hours as opposed to the 48 hours I was assured. The receptionist told me that I can just contact them in the morning, go through another three hour waiting list and see yet another GP (Dr Austera being the second I have seen). If I want to speak to my own GP (Dr Austera), who has failed already to keep to his word of contacting me within 48 hours, it will have reached the 4th week of having the issue and being thrown between consultants who have no interest in helping me. The doctor also failed to mention that they would contact me within 48 hours on my notes, so I had no weight when I asked the receptionist if she could find out why I had not been contacted. In order to 'give even greater care' I would recommend that this doctor expresses some concern in getting back to his patients. 48 hours is a very long time to wait anyway, but if you cannot keep to this then I would advise being honest so that I can see someone with actual regard for my health.
