I cannot credit and thank Dr Tanner enough for the help and care I received 12 months ago. I’d seen many consultants over the years and always felt palmed off to yet another doctor, rattled with numerous medications or frankly just forgotten in what is unfortunately an under-funded system. Dr Tanner was the first consultant I felt treated me like a person instead of a patient - he was keen to hear my expectations of care and involved me thoroughly in my treatment plan. He cared for my opinions and concerns surrounding not just immediate treatment but helped me with a long term outlook, triggers and coping mechanisms. He’d done his homework - upon my first meeting with him I was surprised at how much he knew about my past medical history, struggles and even passing comments whilst under his care at the Welland Centre. It meant so much to me not to have to repeat myself like I had done for many, many years. I recall I was not the easiest of patients at times but was treated fairly, and must say he had the patience of a saint no matter what I pushed his way. He even went above and beyond to meet with family members of mine in their time who struggled to understand my condition. Diagnosed and discharged, I am now one year on following the treatment plan we agreed on with no issues or nasty side effects. I still have the odd bad days, I’m only human, but this man very literally saved my life. Thank you.
