I was referred in February 2018, for a sleep specialist assessment to Dr Irshaad Ebrahim at The London Sleep Centre by my psychiatrist at Psychiatry UK as Dr Ebrahim is a Sleep Expert and Neuropsychiatrist. Additionally, as I live between London and Dubai it was more convenient to see Dr Ebrahim as he has a practice in London and in Dubai. I have been diagnosed with Anxiety Depression for the past 12 years and I have continued to have Severe Sleep Disruption that the medicines were not helping and I was not happy to take sleeping tablets. I saw Dr Irshaad Ebrahim first at The London Sleep Centre Harley Street, and before my appointment I was sent a long questionnaire that was quite detailed and I brought this with me to my first appointment – Dr Ebrahim took a thorough history of my sleep problems, my medical history, etc. After about 45 minutes, we discussed the possible diagnosises – he was interested in the fact that I snore sometimes and my partner reported that I Grind my teeth – he explained that I might have a condition called Bruxism (Tooth Grinding) that may be related to me having a mild type of apnea. On the same day I took home some equipment to have a sleep test at home for two nights and the day after I returned the equipment, I had a telephone consultation, because I had returned to Dubai, with Dr Ebrahim for the results – Dr Ebrahim explained to me that I had a Mild Case of Sleep Apnea but that when I was on my back the breathing stopped about 40 times – something called Positional Apnea – also they had detected that I had Bruxism. Dr Irshaad Ebrahim was very reassuring , he listened to my questions and answered them fully. I was impressed with his expertise. He was also very optimistic about my future and explained that there is an effective treatment for this condition using a mouth-guard type device – he also reassured me saying that I could access the full treatment for this mouth device at The London Sleep Centre in Dubai where they have a specialist and all the equipment to diagnose and treat this condition. I saw Dr Ebrahim’s colleague, Dr Patel, the Sleep Medicine Dentist at the Dubai London Sleep Clinic and that was I March. Since then, I have seen Dr Patel and Dr Ebrahim on a few occasions – I am now medication free and sleeping the best I have ever slept only needing to wear this mouthguard every night. After many years of being on anti-depressant tablets and sleeping medication I am finally sleeping normally – thanks to the expert care of Dr Irshaad Ebrahim and his team.
