Gerry is the most wonderful doctor known to me personally I first met him in 2006 just after my husband received a single lung transplant at Newcastle Freeman hospital At that time Gerry was a registrar He struck.me as someone very special A very strong man with a beautiful & caring side He proved himself exactly as I thought He was a rarely found doctor with massive commitment to his specialist care My husband received a transplant which gave him 12 special years Sadly my husband died this year in February 2018 Gerard who was then a consultant along with an incredible team at the transplant unit sadly could not save my husband's life after a difficult time I sincerely give all the love in my heart to Gerard & to all the team who desperately tried to save my husband Gerard gave so much more than the essential medical care He gave the ultimate sacrifice for his patients treating them with care, love & respect...always putting their needs & their families before his own He is a very fine man & the very best that his profession Icould be Thank you Gerry for all that you gave to Stuart & to his family In our hearts always

Gerry is the most professional and caring doctor I've been treated by. He takes the time to explain everything (good and bad), somehow he instills trust. He is a great listener I owe him a more than I can express. Even when I was re-admitted to the Freeman, despite being in a different department he heard I was there and made time to come and see me. He is a star.
