I was waiting to see Dr Meenah, it was quite a distance to walk on crutches to actually get to his office, when I did I understood very quickly that this appointment was a conveyor belt style one. I felt like the pace was racing ahead. I note that a few days after the appointment I had ended up in A&E and had a diagnosis of 3 bulging discs at L4 L5 and S1 with contact of the nerve root, hence I was in considerable pain. I also had a fibrous appendix removed and a 24mm Cecum Colonic serrated polyp removed. All that made for a pretty uncomfortable person infront of Dr Meenah. Autoimmune questionnaire followed and I was sure I wasn't yet needed it ruled out. As I have disability, what was frustrating was that I was not offered an appointment at the same time as bloods could have been taken, I had to arrange a return to the hospital. These things are not easy to arrange having been needing either my wheelchair or crutches and having to arrange childcare. I was triggered by the language Dr Meenah used on the letter to my GP whereby my BMI was mentioned as being overweight. I have lost mobility since a hysterectomy almost 5 years ago and I'm in daily chronic pain. I was in so much pain I almost cancelled the appointment yet I really struggled on crutches to get there, to try and better my health. Unfortunately keeping a BMI down is extremely hard when you are debilitated by pain and mobility compromised. I don't know what the Hospital is doing in booking these small increment appointments whereby you feel rushed. You can sense the Consultants enthusiasm to get through to the next patient. I don't rate this experience over the NHS at all.
