Dr Jamil seems to have a specific interest in high blood pressure. When I've had appointments with her, I felt her specialist interest outweighed my needs. The first time I met her, I was very concerned because a chronic health condition I'd had for 25 years, but had been well managed for 15 years, had suddenly flared up, leaving me in significant pain 24/7. I was very stressed by the fact that a condition I thought was under control, could return in such an extreme way. Dr Jamil was concerned about my high blood pressure, which I explained was usually at a very good level, as my overall health was very good at that time, but I was feeling very stressed about my chronic illness returning, and I wasn't surprised my blood pressure had temporarily risen. I didn't feel listened to - her concern for my high blood pressure took over - and I left with a prescription for blood pressure pills, but no treatment or referral for my longer term issues, which is what I really needed. Similar experiences after that mean that I no longer accept appointments with Dr Jamil. With chronic illness, a good relationship with your GP is vital, and while I'm sure she's excellent in many respects, I now prefer to choose different Drs at the practice.
