As a long term systemic lupus patient, I always believed that the involvement of an Immumology doctor would be incredibly useful and helpful. But I could never have imagined someone as concerned, caring and generally brilliant as Dr Kumararatne. He somehow makes the hospital feel a safer environment. I fee myself profoundly fortunate to have come under the aegis of so skilled and experienced an immunologist, with a sense of how systemic disease works, and systemic treatment. Medicine aside, he is a genuinely kind human being who goes beyond what may be expected - a luxury for any NHS patient.
