Dr Halpin listened to me, gave me advice, and did so with an appropriately paternalistic attitude. Choice is all very well, but when I am ill and worried about it, I am not best placed to make those decisions and I need someone to tell me that what I am doing is the right thing to do, and what isn't. He has a holistic approach and doesn't just deal with the numbers, but looks at me as a whole person whose life is being affected by the illness, he doesn't just treat a test result.
