I came out of my appointment with this Dr feeling utterly hopeless, worthless and with a stronger desire to harm myself than ever before as seemingly there was absolutely no hope for me. Everything we 'discussed' (I say discussed, I was never listened to) I felt was met with a negative unhelpful response about how rubbish my options were. Despite being bombarded with a list of negative side effects for my very limited treatment options, the treatment I was given I wasnt told about a major side effect which effectively worsened the very condition I seeked help for. If you or someone you care about are given sent to see this man I STRONGLY recommend you request to see a different individual. Not only was his 'professional' help/guidance extremely flawed and frankly dangerous, his whole demeanour was dismissive and made me think I was just a hugely flawed individual.I can honestly say I have never expereinced a Dr with a worse 'bedside manner' and considering his chosen profession this is not only upsetting but extremely harmful. Suffering from any mental condition is a struggle which undoubtedly requires a lot of support and when the people who are paid to provide this cant even be bothered or are unable, it makes it 100x harder to carry on. Worse still when you feel let down by such a health professional others around you are quick to say its because you are 'depressed' of you are seeing things negatively'. I even started to worry that maybe I was but after having just seen a good pyschiatrist (who asked me for my feedback on this site, funnily enough Dr Armstrong did not ask the same) the other responses on here have made me realise I am not crazy and he is not very good at his job. My recent encounter with the 'good' Dr did not give me a miracle cure or offer me false promises but I felt listeneed to, respected and above all felt there was hope left. Finally, (I promise to stop ranting) I think it is extemely telling that every single patient review on here is 1* the only thing that has dragged Dr Armstrong up to 2* is a staff member comment. Is this not the equivilant of hotel managers writing their own tripadvisor reports?!!! I'm sure Dr Armstrong is a nice very intelligent man but he needs to chose a different specialism or profession.
