My husband is bi polar and was diagnosed almost 2 years ago by a different psychiatrist. We went to Dr. Armstrong for a medication adjustment as my husband wasn't feeling right in the mornings..he also was feeling edgy and angry at times. Dr. Armstrong spoke to him for about 15 min. told him to wean off 1 med and to read the book mindfullness for his anger issues. Next appt 3 months later and his assessment was that perhaps my husband is not bi polar and he should wean off his 2nd medication "to see" how it goes. My husband did not stop taking his meds but as a result of being weaned off 1 of them he has gone into a full manic state. I tried to advise Dr. Armstrong of this and he told my husband he didn't think he was manic. He has lost 2 jobs..behaving erratically and dangerously and I fear for his safety. Dr. Armstrong is irresponsible and ignorant in his attitude and approach towards bi polar illness.
