After explaining my symptoms to Dr Burden over the telephone she suggested I visited her at the surgery that morning. As soon as she saw me with bruising and red pin prick marks over my body she immediately arranged for an urgent blood test at the surgery as she suspected my blood platlets were very low. I had the blood test and was sent home and was told she'd have the results by the end of the day. However after a couple of hours Dr Burden called me at home saying she'd spoken to the Haematology dept at St Peters and had arranged an appointment for me to visit them as she was concerned about my symptoms. After having more blood taken at St Peters it was evident that my blood platlets were very low at just 20 and the norm is around 400! Within a few hours at Peters I had lots more tests and was reviewed again a couple of days later. Luckily my blood platlets picked up, however the story could have been very difficult, as when platlets reach below 10 it can be very dangerous. I can not thank Dr Burden enough for acting so quickly to my medical needs. She really is a fantastic doctor and was spot on with my diagnosis. Her professionalism, quick action and expert knowledge is everything you'd want in a GP. I will definitely always try to book future appointments with Dr Burden.
