Dr Claire Baldry has always been honest with me and positive about my present treatment and assures me there are other treatments which are available to me if I should have to change. She is friendly and reassuring all the way through the appointment. I can and do ask her anything I feel I need reassurance about. And she always says it’s important and there is nothing I can’t say and she will always give me an answer. Which she has. Her appointments have always been kept and have given plenty of notice. They have fitted around my other appointments. All appointments have flowed together, ie blood/covid tests, three monthly scans followed a week later with oncology appointment. It has helped me plan my personal life around the appointments. I have written below a few snippets of the things I have asked Dr Claire Baldry. Not quite sure this is what you require, however, the things she has told me have been extremely good from my perspective and have helped not only me but my family too in continuing with a positive attitude. Which we all believe is a healthy and happy way forward. Dr Claire Baldry has from the initial first appointment been honest and positive with me. She has told me my cancer is incurable but continued by saying there are many treatments which are available for me. When I asked how long I would be on the treatment for, her reply was “could be for the rest of your life. Which could be many years”. This is exactly what I need to hear. Further discussions regarding the medication I am taking, Dr Claire Baldry said “there are some people who have been on the same medication since 2017”. Another positive. I asked Dr Claire Baldry if she could tell me how or when there would likely to be any changes in my cancer, she said “I cannot tell you that”, I respect her honesty with me and it was said in so much as I took this as a positive. The only constructive suggestions which I could suggest for improvement, has already been done. I visited Breathing Space for the first time on the 28th of April, I was amazed such splendour after the horrible corridor which the oncologist had to use at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. I hated going there, but felt more for the oncologist who had to spend a whole working day in an awful place. When someone has spent all those years into acquiring so much knowledge to make peoples lives better and to live longer; then they deserve the best possible working environment. Very happy to see the oncologist team in a lovely environment, it made me feel better too.
