I was diagnosed with NMO around 2006 and was trawling the web to find out more when there was a request from a doctor to contact him if they had NMO, he had just come from the states etc. That person was Dr Anu Jacobs and he was a life line. I have a very good neurologist where I live and when I went to him for the first time after my former one had left, one of the first questions he asked was if I was in touch with Dr Jacobs, when I said yes his reply was 'good'. Dr Jacobs was caring, thorough and he listened. He was also funny and encouraging and although he encouraged me to do as much as I could, he knew my limitations. I speak in the first person, I have heard others say the same. I am sad that he is going but his reasons for going are good as he is. He leaves a legacy behind as he built up the NMO department and even if people don't know it, the excellent care we receive, would not have happened without him. I am a fan, but then I am or was his patient and anyone lucky enough to be under his care will understand what I mean. Thank you Dr Jacobs I will miss you. Judith
