I have symptoms of SIBO and SIFO and went to see Dr Farmer thinking he would be good as he's linked to the Functional Gut Clinic. He suggested I do the SIBO breath test which I did willingly knowing my symptoms would worsen. However, I was not prepared for what followed - 3 days later I had severe depression and fatigue so bad I could hardly move. Added to that, the results were inconclusive! Dr Farmer then suggested my issue to be predominantely fungal and sent me away without any further testing or even a referral. I am still in a severely poor state of health, barely able to work and having to search on my own for the right gut doctor which is a minefield. My experience with this doctor could not have been worse. In hindsight, he should have offered me a stool test as well as the SIBO breath test so that at least I had some results to take to another doctor - this would have saved me a lot of time and given me some hope.
