While a very caring man I found his style cautious and paternalistic. He was reluctant to reduce my medication. On transfer to another doctor I described how I felt. She instantly said 'You are over drugged' and my prescription was reduced over time. I have felt much better since. Psychiatric styles vary, for me it was wrong. He had seen me desperately ill and wanted me to be better, - to the extent he went through the process of threatening me, that if I be came ill, he'd have me sectioned so as to administer the medication he wished, and I was reluctant to take. My CPN pointed out to me that it was not psychiatrists who could section you, but 2 additionally trained mental health nurses.
