My only criticism of this hospital is the long waiting time to be seen when in Out patients. It is common to wait over an hour and I have on one occasion waited for over 2 hours.
Found my care in this hospital good but found that dementia type patients mixed in with the patients on the same ward was very disturbing and distressing. Would recommend separate care for these patients. I was disturbed every night with shouting etc which did not help with my recovery.
My 10yr old daughter had nasal bone fracture. Despite GP requesting urgent appointment bearing in mind the fracture has to be corrected in 2 weeks to prevent nose deformities, she did not get one. I took her for private consultation the ENT surgeon agreed it was urgent and got her in on NHS list as he also worked at LRI. Operation was done by a different doctor who never spoke to us and after the operation sent his junior doctor to tell us that there was nothing wrong with her. Without knowing he corrected the one side but fractured the other, later confirmed by another private consultation I had to take her to as no follow up was offered. I complained formally but nothing came off it. The response was so disappointing that when few months later unfortunately my son had a sport injury sustaining a nose fracture, I chose to take him to Walsgrave hospital in Coventry and had a fabulous experience.
A&e on a Saturday night followed by GAU ward, all staff professional, friendly & caring.
I cannot fault the medical treatment I received in both A&E and the Stroke clinic, even though A&E was very busy. My only constructive criticism would be for normal medical staff to let a phlebotomist take blood whenever possible or give extra training.
from the minute i walked i was looked after till i walked out thank you
