Mr Richardson is truly a life changer. I had to wait 15 years to be diagnosed with endometriosis which was done at the Royal Gwent in Wales, the first operation was a total shambles and thank goodness I moved to London shortly afterwards and was under the care of RR. What a difference. The man is an absolute amazing surgeon and consultant. Not only did he rescue the botched job from the surgery in wales but he saved my vital reproductive organs and several years later I was able to have a child. He performed two operations and I can honestly say that he changed my life. I went from experiencing severe crippling pain on most days and unable to do many activities to being able to climb a mountain in South America 6 months after treatment. He really is gifted and a general all round nice guy! One of my most favourite humans and I am so grateful that he treated me. Thank you and thank you NHS

I had been having gynecological issues for 3 months when I contacted Mr Robinson. I had gone through lots of tests with no diagnosis but continued to have almost continuous pain and periodic swelling. I would like to leave this message for Mr Robinson and his PA because, although I never actually had an appointment, they took the time to listen to my symptoms and history and decided to decline my self referral because Mr Robinson did not feel he was the right person to see me. His PA was very clear in explaining why and Mr Robinsons suggestion that he recommended that I see a vulval dermatology specialist was really helpful - I could finally ask the hospital for the contact details of someone who had the right training and expertise to see me and I avoided self-paying for more appointments which were not providing any results. SO thank you both - I managed to find and see Dr Claire Fuller the next day (as she had a cancelled appointment) and as she could not perceive any dermatology issues she has suggested it is a sensitive nerve issue that is causing pain when i should have none and she has put me on a treatment plan. This has massively improved my anxiety and mood (which was becoming increasingly affected by my ongoing issues) and means that I won't be spending lots of money and time on private appointments. I feel a lot more hopeful now that my condition will resolve and I feel that Mr Robinson, by declining my referral and suggesting I see a specific type of specialist, helped to facilitate this. Thank you!

I saw Richardson because I have endometriosis. He barely spent 30 minutes looking round my abdomen and doing what he needed to do. In a recent laproscopy I found out that there was very dark endometriosis from my previous surgery. He had missed a large area of endometriosis which he should have excised. When I saw him after he told me to put up with the remaining symptoms. When actually he hadn't done his job properly. He also has a poor understanding of the effect of endometriosis on the bowel.

Response from Mr Robert Richardson

I am sorry you have returning symptoms. As a surgeon I have been excising endometriosis with a laser for over 20 years and perform surgery carefully and thoroughly. After laser treatment fine carbon deposits can sometimes be seen in the areas of previous excision. Such "dark" areas may be mistaken for endometriosis - it is unlikely, especially if the area was large, I would have neglected to treat active endometriosis. Endometriosis is a complex disease and symptoms may linger even after complete excisional treatment. This is true for both bowel and period symptoms. When there are complex symptoms, like other BSGE endometriosis surgeons, I discuss cases formally with colleagues, including colorectal surgeons, to ensure my patients receive the best care. Such discussions lead to a wealth of understanding of pelvic symptoms and leads to patients being managed in the most appropriate way.

The only doctor who resolved my severe endometriosis case. I am so grateful to him for his patience, skill and understanding of these severe cases. Thank you for your help and the excellent care you provided to me. After being misdiagnosed since I was a teen. It took another 10 years and me collapsing, having 2 surgeries before I finally I was finally referred. Highly recommended and hope he can train others to do the same. My experience in another 8 trusts was just poor.

Dr Richardson is the best doctor one could ever wish for; he is professional, caring, he listens, he has your best interest at heart, he will go an extra mile and he is...funny! Most importantly, I felt safe in his hands - and with that trust, I have wholeheartedly recommended him to many of my friends who are trying for a baby but endometriosis is hindering their efforts. For everything he has done for me, I am eternally grateful! In short, in the past 12 months dr Richardson performed: 1) 2 major laparoscopic surgeries to treat my stage IV RV Endometriosis 2) 1 Hysteroscopy Throughout this journey he was very thorough in making sure I understood the condition itself, the procedures required and the risks. He ensured that all relevant tests and scans were performed by the best specialists in the field. Following the procedures, he always checked on me, made sure I was healing well and he was very responsive to all my (annoying) questions, always there when I needed him. I am now cleared of endometriosis, and with all green lights starting my IVF. For everything dr Richardson has done for me, I will be eternally grateful!
