Went to the gentleman at Solihull Parkway 19.1.24 , and as soon as he opened the door to call me in I found him openly empathic/ caring / polite . He explained who he was / field of practice, the way things work re self paying or with insurance from that initial appt through to how exploratory testing etc works and thereafter, and of course costs. He let me rabbit on about why I was there, he reassured me as I felt nervous, I mean you do don’t you because you're scared of what one might discover, but he was so kind, reassuring, making notes all the tine until it was tine to ask me questions relevant for his seek & finding. By the time the initial meet was over I felt like I’d met a new friend but one with medical knowledge I could trust. I left reassured that if after 2 weeks my issue hadn't changed for the better to see him again. That was nice, I always find going back to adjust glasses at the optician awkward, so hearing this really assured me he was really a nice caring person, and one who had a good idea of what my problem was likely to be from and gave advice I could introduce as soon as I got home. Am I hapoy right now ? YES Would I go back ? Yes because of knowledge & trust in him. I hope he registers with BUPA soon, they need him as do poorly people.

I had one consultation with this doctor around October 2023. I felt the consultation was rushed and he was extremely condescending. He was very cold and detached, asked me a lot of questions about my mental health without context or looking me in the eye, and also wanted to know who else I had seen for the septorhinoplasty. Of course, I told him, and interestingly, the surgeon who ended up performing the surgery knew everything I had said to him, so I can only assume they talked about my case without my knowledge. He was very concerned about how I was going to pay for the treatment and talked about money a great deal, then he proceeded to apply the numbing spray to my nose and throat, which was very uncomfortable, only to pressure me into having an invasive test (putting a camera down my throat), test that was going to be an indeterminate amount of money but at least 200 according to his estimate. When I said I did not want that test, even though he had already applied the numbing spray which lasted a few hours, he pretty much was done with me, so I left feeling anxious and clueless about what had just happened. Ultimately, I decided to have my operation with a different surgeon, so I can´t talk about his surgical ability.

Only had a consultation with him and walked away feeling completely dejected. Had a consultation with him for a rhinoplasty, from the very moment I met him he seemed very off and cold with me, which was a shock as I saw how he greeted other patients before me and was very warm and welcoming to them. Throughout the consultation there were many red flags to me; he made me name every plastic surgeon I had already had a consultation with and told me to go into detail about what I discussed with them, which I thought was very bizarre and intrusive (no other plastic surgeon I saw ever asked me anything like this), he made a few snarky comments towards me, for example he asked if I had any previous plastic surgery or fillers or other cosmetic work and I stated I hadn’t (I have two veneers but I didn’t even consider those as my mind was thinking more-so actual facial procedures) and when I stated I had veneers he made a sarcastic comment stating “thought you hadn’t had any cosmetic work done, are veneers not cosmetic?” and the tone he said this in was very snarky and not playful or lighthearted at all. He completely rushed through the consultation and he almost seemed to try to get it over and done with before I’d even asked a single question, I quite literally had to stop him and ask him if I could ask him the questions I had for him. And to top it off when the consultation ended he tried to overcharge me for it; when booking the consultation via telephone the receptionist told me it would be £150 and I could pay on the phone or on the day and I went with on the day, Mark Simmons tried to write down somewhere around £250 and I had to stop him and tell him what the receptionist told me and only then did he change it to the appropriate £150. I honestly was in a lot of shock from the whole experience, he made me feel very small and invalidated, very unnecessarily rude. Safe to say I never had my rhinoplasty with him, so I don’t know what he is actually like as a surgeon but I’m glad I didn’t stick around to find out, good luck to anyone out there who chooses to go with him.

Absolutely first class treatment. Rarely do you find a consultant so caring, holistically understanding and committed to surgically fixing your illness. It has been several years since my operation (2017 I think) and my chronic nasal sinus problem has never returned, despite lurgy and covid. Many thanks again, Karl
