Dr Patel was very professional and competent. His pre-op assessment was very thorough and all my questions were answered. He explained all surgical steps and made me feel very comfortable. After the surgery, he visited me daily in the ward and supervised my recovery. He has not only demonstrated professionalism but also a huge element of empathy and understanding

Hi.I have been a patient at the Dr Nakul Patel clinic since 2018. In the past 5 years I have possibly had 16 visits to the clinic. All the staff that work at the clinic have always been so helpful and polite. Not just with myself but to all the patients that visit there. In 2018 I was diagnosed with skin cancer.I had a small biopsy. Then it was necessary to have more serious surgery so that was the ist time I met Dr Nakul Patel for a consultation. On what surgery was needed next. From the ist minute I met him, he was so natural but professional with me about the surgery which was needed to follow, that made me feel more at ease with the surgery to follow. Then In June Dr Nakul Patel possibly did 3.5 hours of main surgery. On the day again Dr Nakul Patel was so calm with me and explained everything that was to follow that day and just was brilliant. Since then I have had many follow up visits and on occasion Dr Nakul Patel has seen me, and I always feel confident with any advice given. Since 1985 to 2020 I had private health care. I ended it in 2020 mainly because of the care and treatment surgery I received, and still receive from Dr Nakul Patels clinic.

Mr Patel treated me following quite a traumatic, sudden accident and I honestly couldn't have asked for better care. Not only is he extremely knowledgable in his field and explains everything in a very clear and simple way, but he is one of the kindest and most empathetic people you could wish to meet. He treated me with such compassion and I think both my physical recovery and mental wellbeing would've taken quite a downturn had I not been under the exceptional care of Mr Patel. He is supported by a fabulous team who all share his excellent qualities and I couldn't praise them highly enough.

I felt at ease even after my first appointment with Mr Patel. He was empathetic, caring and professional. He explained very clearly about the surgeries I needed and listened to me. On the days of my surgeries he was so reassuring before theatre and always had a great team around him, keeping me as calm as possible. After my first surgery I had a wait for the second, like everyone, because of the pandemic, but the result was worth waiting for. I have great respect for Mr Patel, his gift for surgery and always reflecting a positive attitude.

Dr Patel always puts you at ease and explains clearly the procedure he is about to carry out. Would not hesitate if needed further appointments.

Profile

I am a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based in Leicester. I treat both adults and children and work in both NHS and private practice. My private practice is at Spire Leicester, Spire Nottingham and Nuffield Leicester Hospitals. My NHS practice is at The Royal Infirmary Hospital, Leicester.

I am an integral part of the plastic surgery, breast reconstruction and skin cancer teams. I chair the regional Specialist Skin Cancer MDT. In addition to my reconstructive and microsurgery expertise, I have developed a special interest in cosmetic surgery of the breast, abdomen, body and face.

My desire for Plastic Surgery started whilst at medical school at St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry. I have had world-class training in plastic surgery from London, Cambridge, Chelmsford, Norwich, Swansea, Stevenage, Nottingham and North America.

During this time, I have completed six prestigious fellowships including Cosmetic Surgery, Laser, Skin Cancer, Breast Reconstruction and Microsurgery. I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the most distinguished surgeons in their respective fields.

I am passionate about innovation in the medical field and being at the forefront of new techniques, materials and technologies that improve patient care. My enthusiasm has led me to be the Co-Lead for Innovation for the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS). I am also one of a few nationally selected NHS Clinical Entrepreneurs with NHS England. I have gained numerous prizes for research papers and innovations and have been appointed as a Lecturer at the University of Manitoba, Canada. At present, I am in the process of inventing new surgical instruments that will help improve outcomes.

I am the author of two medical textbooks, one of which has been translated into Cantonese with Radcliffe and Blackwell Publishing Ltd. I am currently writing a textbook, ‘Core Surgical Procedures at a Glance: Plastic Surgery’, to help train junior plastic surgeons. In addition, I have written three book chapters, six educational surgical videos and contributed to three surgical apps. I have also written over thirty peer reviewed papers and presented at over twenty national and international conferences.

The keystone of my practice is patient safety. I strive to ensure that best practice is followed in every procedure that I undertake. I have designed proformas and employed appropriate techniques to ensure better patient care. I combine cosmetic and reconstructive surgical techniques to get the best possible results for my patients.
