Hi Alison, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, and your amazing team for the care awarded to me during my journey to date. This is a journey I would rather not be on, but on it I am and you and your team have wrapped care all around me. Everyone I have come into contact with has been exceptional, and I am sending a virtual hug and thank you to each and everyone of them. I have my review on 12th July at Morecambe and have everything crossed. Thank you again. Adrian Arthurs Treated at Rosemere Preston

My consultation with Professor Alison Birtle resulted with my worry and apprehension , concerning the spread of my prostate cancer , being replaced with a positive and confident outlook . The initial introduction was a friendly but also , conducted with a highly skilled inter personal approach, .This then manifested into a confident and knowledgeable open investigation to analyse my long term medical history but also coupled with my personal profile to include my career and hobbies. I found this to be a most refreshing . My future treatment plan was proposed. I was encouraged to ask questions thus ensuring a complete understanding as to what was involved. It was an excellent consultation …..I feel most fortunate that i have my future taken care of by Professor Alison Birtle. To conclude …..it was my 86 birthday ….well really , I could not have wished for a better present. My sincere thanks.

My Mum received poor care and even worse communication following the discovery of a Squamous Cell Carcinoma last year. She was not given the opportunity to see an Oncologist but was telephoned to be told that there had been a Multidisciplinary meeting and the decision at that meeting on discussing her case was that no surgery, chemo or radiotherapy would be offered as the tumour was a rare one that would not respond to Radiotherapy and that due to other existing health issues surgery and chemotherapy were not an option. They said they would make a palliative care referral. We were absolutely devastated. I made a formal complaint and the result, which took time we could ill afford, concluded that we could have a referral for a second opinion. This took from June 2023 to February 2024. We saw Professor Alison Birtle yesterday and although agreeing with the last Consultant that Surgery and Chemotherapy were not appropriate for Mum, she disagreed with regards to the refusal of radiotherapy as she explained that it may not be as responsive as with a regular bladder tumour but it certainly does respond. She explained everything clearly and did not give us any false hope. Initial tests were done and first radiotherapy session provisionally booked. I can honestly say that Professor Birtle has done More in the last 3 weeks than the previous team did in 8 months. Due to the time lag, sadly the tumour and lymph node have grown but at least there is a plan of care and we have been given some hope. I would highly recommend Professor Birtle, her PA Joanna and all of the team at Rosemere Cancer Centre who do amazing work in an extremely busy unit delivering bespoke care for their patients. Well done to all and thank you so much.

Dr. Birtle welcomed us warmly and made me feel very comfortable talking to her. She explained my treatment was going to be like looking forward. She made sure I understood everything she had explained, even showing me pictures of where I would be having my Radiotherapy so I wouldn't be so nervous when I went. Both my wife and I are so grateful that I am under her care. I would recommend Dr. A. Birtle to anyone. Alf Hill.
