I take beta propranolol 160mg to treat a generalised anxiety state bought about by a mental breakdown; wich has psychosomatic manifestations: pains in the stomach, back and shoulders. It helps alleviate the stress, anxiety and pain by about fifty per cent. There have been side effects on several occasions :nightmares. These have been reduced by reducing intake of alcohol to once a week. To conclude not a miracle cure but effective in reducing anxiety and its psychosomatic manifestations. Should be used in conjunction with other aids like physical exercises and relaxation techniques.
