Although symptoms have not changed since I saw a different consultant Prof McColl said that the possible diagnosis I was given then was very unusual (research says differently) and he had no reason to believe that it was indeed correct. He did not explain reasons why he felt this, and I cannot find any reason for such a difference of opinion myself. His opinion was the opposite of the last consultant who actually listened to my symptoms and current medications and treated my symptoms appropriately and was determined to get to the bottom of my gastro problems if this did not help. Prof McColl had no interest in getting answers and put everything down to IBS and discharged me. I then needed to seek another opinion, he fully agreed with the first consultant I saw.
