I had a right total hip replacement. The staff in Dickens ward were brilliant, very polite and caring. My operation went brilliantly well. Everything worked out very well. I would recommend Mr Jacob and his team for anyone needing a hip replacement.

Six months on from total right hip replacement with surgery performed by Mr Jacob. Mr Jacob was informative and reassuring and I felt confident that I was in good hands. At 47 I was quite young for this op but even so I was amazed how quickly I recovered. It takes a few weeks to get muscle strength back but the joint itself always felt really strong. I can still feel sensation from the wound area on occasion but not uncomfortable. It gets better every day, almost forgotten I’ve had it done. Really pleased with the result. Thank you Mr Jacob

I had a total right hip replacement due to osteoarthritis on 20th April 18. Went in early morning and was taken off to theatre at 10.30am after meeting Mr Jacob who was going to perform the operation. At 1.30pm I was back on the ward and sitting up and feeling fine. My wife came at 1.50 and was surprised at how well I was looking after a major operation. I had a spinal anaesthetic and light sedation which was the reason for this. I felt good for the rest of the day and met Mr Jacob again late afternoon. He said that all went well and it definitely needed doing. I was in the Dickens ward at Ashford Hospital and had great care there for three days. The day after the op I was walking with a frame and two days later on crutches. I was taught to do leg exercises which I continued at home for a few weeks and this is very important to aid the recovery. Four weeks after the op I went back to attend a hip class and seven weeks later I met again with Mr Jacob and was discharged. By then I was walking normally and leading a good life again. Many thanks to Mr Jacob and his team. I would certainly recommend the operation to anyone.

Mr Jacob Is great, he explained everything in detail and was very reassuring. He has a calm manner and a good sense of humour. Having hip surgery with angina and a stent is scary but Mr Jacob was able to allay any anxiety I had. I would certainly be very happy to have Mr Jacob as my surgeon again if necessary.

Excellent knowledge of subject and excellent people and communication skills. He has the ability to be open and be able to share all relevant information in a way that I could understand. As a result I understand my problem well and what the next steps are. Also he has e-mailed me the findings and any reports directly, which I was happy to put in my files for future reference.
