I had a total knee replacement under Mr Melton's care at the new orthopaedic hub at Addenbrookes just over 7 weeks ago. My treatment was exceptional, Mr Melton explained clearly at the initial outpatient appointment what would be involved, he clearly told me what to expect in the post operative period. He saw me pre operatively on the day, I had the opportunity to ask any questions. I was seen in recovery and later in the ward. I had my surgery under sedation, encouraged by the anaesthetist. I had total confidence in the treatment that I received. I was able to go home on the day after surgery. The pain was less that I expected and the team of nurses and physiotherapists based in the unit were fantastic in supporting me to get mobile and fit to leave. At 6 weeks I was walking without aids and minimal discomfort. I wish I had got on with it sooner. As expected there were days post op when it was painful but this was manageable. I would recommend Mr Melton to anyone struggling with an arthritic knee, my recovery is down to his expertise and skill. Above all he was empathetic and clear about the surgery and potential outcome. I am very grateful for the care I have received
