I had been thinking about upper eyelid surgery for some time (my eyelids, especially the right, were very fleshy, and I was aware of how my late mother's lids had become so drooped and heavy that they eventually interfered with her vision.). However, I was quite nervous. My initial consultation with Mr Nduka gave me such reassurance and answered all my questions, so much that I had no hesitation in booking my procedure. On the day, I arrived at the Montefiore Hospital for 08.00, and was home by 11.00. The procedure took about an hour, and was completely painless - i used paracetamol for 24 hours and slept sitting up for a week, and though the bruising was as predicted, I was able to cover most of it with concealer after a few days. My eyes look wider, fresher, and more 'awake' - and are symmetrical again, which makes a huge difference. However I don’t look remotely 'worked on' - it is such a natural look. I've only told three people that I've had anything done, though lots have commented on how well I look. Mr Nduka is enormously skilled and is a perfectionist in his work. He's engaging, respectful and likeable in his manner - just what I needed to set me at ease. His secretary Elaine is fantastic and extremely helpful with any queries. On the day, his nurse Sindy was wonderfully reassuring and kind. A great team. I am so pleased that fear did not get the better of me here, and I could not be happier with my 'new' eyes.
