Just back from todays second dog walk, totalling about 13000 steps. I feel really happy being back on track again. I had a total knee replacement on Dec.3 (7 weeks ago) and that was my second knee. Accident-prone? Not so sure, maybe just not giving in to old age. Kind of "use it or lose it". Anyway I got to meet and be treated by Sam Rajaratnam and his team 3 years ago at Lister and was so impressed by the professionalism presented by everyone in the group that I wanted to find them again for this latest surgery. Sam is just the most impressive surgeon, great personality, great explanations, total patient inclusion and a good laugh. I feel I can call Sam a friend. Nowadays I am out of the workforce, but I would have been really happy to work with this very professional group. I also took notice and appreciated the many different countries represented by Schoen Hospital employees. Eva L.

I had a right knee arthroscopy and a partial lateral meniscectomy at Schoen Clinic. The entire experience couldn't have been better, the clinic is at a very high level, everyone has been so kind and professional and everything has been really comfortable for the entire experience. On the day of the surgery, I was impressed with the quality of every aspect of the treatment. Mr. Rajaratnam has been amazing since the beginning, explaining to me everything, showing every detail, and suggesting the best approach for the best result with kindness and high professionalism. The day after the surgery I feel very good, no pain at all, and I'm recovering very fast. A big thanks to all the staff and Mr. Rajaratnam!

Sam did a full knee replacement early October (2020), walking reasonably well without crutches next day - but took care not to over use and control swelling using recommended ice machine and elevation. Now, 26 Nov, walking well up to 1 hour, cycling and starting sailing when lockdown ends - no pain relief necessary. Working from home after 2 weeks and in work 1-2 days per week after 3. Real secret is his team - pain relief (Barry) really good , followed by rehab 6 days at the Clavadel in Guildford including hydrotherapy. Difficult serious operation, provided you follow whole program and do exercises will change your life. Many thanks.

I met Mr Rajaratnam in 2019, after being advised I would need both knees replaced due to long standing injuries. Initially he was looking to do my right knee, but as my left was giving me more discomfort and affecting my walking ability, he agreed the left would be first. I was nervous as I have had previous knee operations on both knees in the 70's. Mr Rajaratnam reassured me and clearly explained how he would proceed. I went into the Horder Centre in August and the operation was a great success. Mr Rajaratnam checked and confirmed everything had gone well. As always the care in the Horder Centre was excellent. The surgery was a success and I was able to get back on my bicycle. Onto my right knee, this was due in March 2020 but due to the pandemic lockdown (two days before my op) this was put back to July. During the lockdown, Mr Rajaratnam's personal assistant, Sharon, was excellent, keeping in touch, informing and reassuring me, when lockdown was over I would be one of the first to have the operation. Again, Mr Rajaratnam did a phone consultation prior to the operation and reassured me, also explaining clearly I should not compare between the two operations and recovery as all operations and recoveries are different, not only patient to patient but also, in my case, knee to knee. The operation was a success and I am now well into my recovery and back on my bike. In essence, would I recommend Mr Rajaratnam, absolutely, yes, he is a great surgeon with a straight forward manner. You are the patient and he is focused on you and your outcome. He has a fantastic team supporting him which all goes to ensure you have the best experience you can have.
