Having open Hernia Surgery with local anaesthetic and sedation was not something I was looking forward too! I should not have worried and the whole experience was excellent and my recovery was absolutely fantastic. I had surgery at the Spire Hospital Southampton having had the initial consultation with Mr Kirkby-Bott at the Nuffield Chandlers Ford. On the day of surgery everything from admission to discharge only took 6 hours and I was home with very little discomfort. I was walking without pain on day two and around 5 miles on day 12. This type of pioneering surgery using Local anaesthetic really does make recovery faster. Also, the use of the hernia pants was in my opinion essential and I felt it really did help with my swift recovery. Thank you to Mr Kirkby-Bott and the whole team for their support and professionalism in my hernia repair and recovery.
