I was diagnosed with ADHD about 15 years ago. As a teenager, I decided to stop taking my Ritalin and "self-medicated" with something that made me feel less zombified, so to speak. Now that I'm an adult my paranoia took a turn for the worse, and my mind decided to run in four different directions, whilst finding it harder and harder to sleep as each day goes by. I also needed to stop medicating due to recent heath issues. Unfortunately for me, the NHS waiting list is approx. 12 months. Thankfully for me, a friend recommended me to Dr Mason. The first consultation lasted just shy of two hours, and Dr. Mason asked a number of leading questions that helped me talk about things I wouldn't have discussed with family or friends. Dr Mason has provided a prescription based on my traits and needs. Since taking the recommended medication, I am feeling a lot more calm and collected, my thoughts are not running at 110mph - whilst still feeling energetic enough to get on with my day-to-day responsibilities. I am so far finding getting to sleep is better and I'm crashing towards the end of the day, rather than tossing and turning with multiple thoughts. I would highly recommend utilising Dr. Mason's many years of experience to help you overcome any obstacles in life that I too have recently faced and did not get sufficient support from the NHS. You are no doubt reading this because of the substantial NHS wait times like I was this time 6 weeks ago. Dr. Mason has given me the support I needed in a timely manner to help me get back on track with my mental health and well-being. I'm already looking forward to my next consultation at the end of next month to help me overcome the next hurdles life might throw my way over the coming months.

In March 2020, I sought an ADHD diagnosis after lockdown highlighted my symptoms and went with Dr Mason who at the time was doing online assessments only due to Covid. I was a bit worried for a few reasons: 1) I didn't have anyone who knew me as a child to bring along to the appointment, 2) I believe I'm also on the autistic spectrum and wasn't sure how that affected any potential ADHD diagnosis, 3) I am a gay trans man and that can sometimes be a mixed bag with medical professionals. Dr Mason doesn't diagnose autism but I told him of my concerns around that and it was not a problem. He was able to use the information I gave him and that from my partner to assess me, and I was never made to feel uncomfortable at all about being part of the LGBTQ+ community. The whole assessment didn't take more than 2 hours (not including emailing over a few forms he asked me to fill out beforehand) and it involved him asking questions, me giving answers and then giving me his diagnosis at the end. I was diagnosed with ADHD and he started me on medication right away. Though I had to try a couple different ones to find the right one for me, it has made an amazing difference to my life. He and his team are always very professional, friendly and I always feel like I have input into my treatment. As it turns out a lot of my friends have also started to suspect they may have ADHD, so I have been recommending Dr Mason to all of them! I now see that his waiting list is entirely full which speaks to how excellent a service his team provides.

Excellent, life changing care from a very well informed, kind and compassionate specialist. Equally excellent care provided by Ros, who is Dr Mason's secretary.

Was able to meet Dr Mason within a few weeks from referring, and had an excellent experience. He listened to me carefully, and would take time to ask further questions, when discussing my childhood and present difficulties. Collected lots of information (in the interview, my completed rating scales, school reports my family kept record of, and pre-diagnosis assessment results and report I got in advance for the appointment), and took all of it into consideration when diagnosing me with ADHD. Dr Mason was able to answer any and all questions I had, was very friendly and engaging, and when I became tearful, he was empathetic and gave me time to calm down (thanks again for the tissues!). Dr Mason has also since my appointments called me to check how I'm getting on, and ask if there's anything else he could support with. Would highly recommend Dr Mason, clearly cares about what he does, about having an open dialogue with his clients, and striving for the best outcomes for them. Only constructive suggestion I can think of: it would be great if some information leaflets about ADHD were provided to clients who are diagnosed with ADHD, with some tips/suggestions to help manage ADHD symptoms. Thank you so much Dr Mason, receiving my diagnosis has made such a difference already, looking forward to the future. I wish you the best!

I have had the privilege of working with Dr Peter Mason for the last last part of my NHS career. During my professional journey I have met and worked with many competent colleagues, whom I admired and learnt from. However, when it comes to Dr Mason, he was the one I admired and enjoyed working with the most. It was his commitment to patients, his inner need to help in the best possible way, his dedication, respect and consideration for those in need which made the difference to me. Always approachable, always ready to go a long way to serve his patients and colleagues. Not to mention his exceptional knowledge, experience and professionalism. And also his sense of humor! I was delighted to find out that he now runs his own service. The best news for anybody who would like to see a private psychiatrist. Best wishes Dr Mason!
