Asmita was my first ever therapist and I'm pleased to remark that I felt a sense of safety pretty much right away, upon meeting her. She was affirming and patient throughout our process of working together, and the primary reason I looked forward to her sessions was because of the non-judgmental atmosphere of the room that I would be entering into. Such an environment provided me with safety from very dark thoughts that had become hazardous to my health and physical safety. It was the first time I heard someone emphasise the importance of self-compassion and of extending the empathy and warmth I received from her to my own self, Asmita helped me realise that we have a relationship with ourselves, not just with others, and how to self-soothe during times of distress and further dark thoughts and emotions. When seeing her, I could just be myself instead of experiencing great pressure to perform or to be the way that I "should" be, which gave me a new freedom and started me on the journey towards reconnecting with myself in a healthy manner.

Having tried many therapies and therapists previously and being in what felt like a labyrinth of OCD, I started having sessions with Dr Asmita Palmer. I was in the middle of a depressive episode with severe OCD and I never thought a sense of normal life would be retrievable again. Asmita helped me to become my own therapist, being able to respond to my own thoughts and regain control of my life again. She helped me to understand the science behind what I was experiencing, which made everything make sense. It has been several years since my sessions and I have continued to work the tools she provided me with. OCD no longer governs me and when it props up in my thinking I can identify it and challenge it. Because of this, I’ve achieved things I never thought would be possible. So I just wanted to thank you Asmita. I thought there was 0% chance I would ever know what a free thinking mind would feel like and because of you, I have mental peace.

I saw Asmita at a time in my life when the low-level anxiety I had long suffered escalated to crisis point. She was kind, perceptive and easy to talk to, and helped me deal not only with the anxiety – which manifested itself around my work – but also with the associated lack of professional confidence I suffered. In the years that have followed I have been troubled far less by anxiety, and when I have, I've been able to use the tools Asmita gave me to deal with it. I've also made significant progress professionally, and attribute this in large part to the time I spent working with her. I will always be grateful for the way Asmita helped me and the lasting impact it has had. I would not hesitate to recommend her.

I found Dr Palmer (Asmita) slightly by chance through a local mums' group, and it was absolutely my lucky day. She is professional and warm, and has been a great resource to me during a time of transition. I highly recommend her.

Asmita really came to the rescue for me during my first pregnancy when I was close to OCD and anxiety overwhelming me. I remember feeling much more in control and relieved after just the first session. Asmita, is pragmatic, kind and gently coaches you to overcome fears and challenge the status quo. I really valued the homework and the check ins that she did at the start of each session. Asmita is also really perceptive, empathetic and articulate and this helps when interpreting and summarising back to me the chaos in my head! I found it helpful to record my sessions and then I made notes of the recordings. These notes are still a life saver for me now and are still a source of solace and give me a reality check even now, four years later! I would highly recommend Asmita. She really made a big and lasting difference to my life.
