Unfortunately, my experience with York Wheelchair Service has not been positive. I was met with a definite air that I was not welcome at the centre, followed by having the validity of my diagnoses questioned, and not having my lifestyle needs properly accounted for when choosing me a chair. The OT assessing me clearly didn't want me to have anything from her, and as such I am going to get (whenever it arrives) a chair that meets the absolute minimum of my needs to a low level. I feel very disheartened, especially as this comes on top of coping with losing my physical abilities as a young adult.
